Obituary For Janice G Fenster

Janice G. Fenster, lovingly known as Jan, was born on June 14, 1943, in Auburn, Washington. She passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and spirited humor that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Jan grew up on a small farm along the Green River on the outskirts of Auburn, where she was raised with her mother, father, and sister. During her years at Auburn High School, Jan’s vibrant personality shone brightly—she even ran for Miss Auburn, earning the title of runner-up.

In 1961, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Richard, beginning a lifelong journey of love and family. Together they built a home and raised three children. The family later moved to McMinnville, Oregon, where Jan discovered and nurtured many of her creative passions, including photography, tole and oil painting, and antique hunting.

Driven and talented, Jan pursued higher education and earned her Associate of Arts degree. This accomplishment led her to a successful and fulfilling career as a technical illustrator. She worked for several companies over the years, most notably Boeing, where she dedicated much of her professional life before retiring in 2012.

Jan will be remembered for her quick wit, friendly nature, and unmistakable sass. She had a deep love for country and swing dancing, found joy in the companionship of her beloved cats, and never passed up a good game of rummy. It brings comfort to imagine that she’s already shuffling a deck and looking for her next game.

Jan is survived by her sister, Lynn; her three children, Christine, Rick, and Tamara; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry her memory forward with love.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
