Deanna Swift Roberts Friedman January 31, 1939 - January 13, 2026 Deanna Swift Friedman, loving wife of the late Myles Friedman, unexpectedly died on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the age of 86 at her home in Bremerton. Wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Deanna will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Deanna was born on January 31, 1939 in Denver, CO to Dean Edwin Swift and Rita Brown Swift. The young Army family spent time in Boston and Georgia, before settling in Ft Smith, AR. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church (Ft. Smith, AR) and Bremerton United Methodist Church. Deanna enjoyed learning and earned 2 bachelors degrees in 4 years: a BS in Home Economics (1961) from Kansas State University and a BS in Nursing (1961) from University of Kansas. She later earned a MA in Health Services Management (1987) from Webster University.

Deanna met and married James Roberts while in school at the University of Kansas. They had 4 children: Elizabeth, Scott, John, and Patrick. As a Navy family, they lived on both coasts and overseas in Rota, Spain. They eventually divorced.

Deanna and Myles rekindled their high school romance in the early 1990s in Fort Smith, AR. Soon after, Deanna moved from Bremerton to Fort Smith, where she lived for nearly 30 years. Following the death of her beloved husband Myles in 2017, she moved back to Washington State to be near her children, grandchildren, and eventually 3 great-grandchildren.

Deanna’s hobbies included sewing (garments and home goods then quilts, so many quilts), needlepoint, world travel (Deanna eventually traveled to all 7 continents and attended the Iditarod for several years, one year going to both Anchorage for the start of the race and later Nome for the end of the race), and reading. In the past few years, Deanna was thrilled to get home-delivery of books each month from the Mobile Services folks at the Kitsap Regional Library.

Deanna is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Roberts and son-in-law Brian Watson; son Scott Roberts and daughter-in-law Helen; and son Patrick Roberts. Grandchildren Connor (Shea) Roberts, Zoe (Bailey) Sarto, Adia Roberts, Nick Roberts, Sydney Roberts, and Kristopher Roberts-Watson. Great-grandchildren Carson, Sawyer, and Brooklyn. Sisters Carol Watson (Larry) and Marilee Edwards (Dave). Numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends many of whom live at the Willows in East Bremerton.

Deanna was predeceased by her husband Myles Friedman, parents Dean and Rita Swift, her infant son John Anthony, and her former husband James Roberts.
