Norfolk- Gary Scott Bulman, Jr.. 32, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully on Jan. 14, 2021 after a sudden and devastating illness. He was born in Virginia Beach, the son of Gary S. Bulman, Sr. and Candy S. Bulman. A 2007 graduate of Greenbrier Christian Academy, he was also a gifted baseball player. At 6’ 3” and 230 lbs., he was one of those rare combinations - a pitcher and a power hitter. Baseball proved to be a connecting force for Gary. He forged friendships on the field that lasted for life. One of those was Bill Hinson, who proved to be a God-send to the family during Gary’s hospitalization. Baseball was the perfect sport for Gary because he truly was a team player in all aspects of his life. No success ever went to his head. Instead, it went to his heart. He felt blessed and responded with humility and respect for others’ contributions. Gary was the living embodiment of Philippians 4:5: “Let your gentleness be evident to all.” Soft-spoken and selfless, this was especially evident in him as a father. His two little boys Finn, 6, and Wade, 4, were the center of his life. He was a get-on-the-floor and play kind of dad and those moments were his greatest joy, He was also a father to his fiancee’s daughter, McKenzie. There was no “step” in how he regarded her. He simply loved her and her mother, Paige Wiggs, fiercely. As a brother, he was a teaser, a confidante and a rescuer. As a friend, he was steadfast and loyal. Putting others first came naturally to him. Gary’s childhood home was on the water. He took that love of the water into his professional and personal life. He was first mate on his father’s charter boat and he recently obtained his tugboat captain’s license. He took joy in the simple pleasures in life - sports, fishing, hunting and, most importantly, family and friends. Besides his parents, sons and fiancee, Gary leaves behind his sisters Courtney Foster and Ashley Bulman and brother Lorne Renn. A celebration of his life will be held on Feb. 13 at his childhood home. Gary’s dear friend Bill has established a page, https://everloved.com/life-of/gary-bulman-jr/, to help underwrite his end-of-life expenses. While we - his family - are heartbroken by our loss, we take comfort in knowing our “gentle giant” is now in God’s kingdom. We thank Gary’s many friends for their prayers and support. You have given us great strength at this worst of times. Online condolences may be expressed at www.SimplyCremationOnline.com.
