James F. Schoenmakers, 74, died on January 25, 2026, in Bonney Lake, WA at his home, from advanced COPD. His final days were filled with loved ones surrounding him.
Born July 18th, 1951 to Arnold and Catherine in Seattle. Jimmie was raised in Beacon Hill, where he learned to love nature, music, and God. He attended St. George School and at the age of 13 was accepted into the seminary, which was a huge accomplishment for him and his family. While his path changed and he returned home, his faith remained unchanged. He graduated from Richmond Beach High School in 1969.
Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and worked as a Foreman in the Sheet Metal industry for over 30 years. During this time he and his former wife, Leeann, had four daughters together who were his whole world.
In 2001 Jim took the brave steps to get sober, we were all so proud of him. He then became a drug and alcohol counselor, helping others to enrich their lives before he retired.
In his retirement, Grandpa/Opa, took care of his eldest granddaughter, played music, rebuilt guitars and amps, watched race cars, became an avid birdwatcher and photographer, and found community in bird groups and leading AA meetings.
He is survived by his sister, Leanne; three daughters, Kristin (Sean), Cari (Warren), and Jamie (Bryan), and nine grandchildren; Tinley, Owen, Korbin, Auggie, Isabella, Braddock, Violet, Jackson, and Amelia.
He is flying high with the birds and surrounded by the loved ones who passed before him: His parents, Arnold and Catherine, his brother, Jerry, and his infant daughter, Jessie.
Rest in peace, we love you Daddy-o. Love, your girls.
A celebration of life will take place at the Elks Club in Ballard, WA on February 11th from 1-4pm.
