Obituary For Misty Jean Valencia

It’s with profound sadness that we share our loss of Misty Jean Valencia (Walker) who passed away on May 4th, 2024, at home surrounded by her family after a long, courageously fought battle with cancer. Misty was born on July 12th, 1972, to Jack and Hazel Walker in Phoenix, AZ. The family moved to Tonto Basis, AZ where she graduated from Payson High School in 1990. After graduation she returned to Phoenix where she met and married her husband Carlos, raised their children, and began her career with the Bashas Company where she remained for 27 years. In 2022, after some unforeseen life changes, she and two of her children decide to move to Puyallup, WA to be with her sisters and family. Misty was an extremely funny, quick-witted, loving person whose family bonds exceeded bloodlines. Misty leaves behind her legacy of love and laughter survived by her three children: Karina, Anthony, and Kayleigh. She is also survived by her mother, Hazel Walker, sisters Dawn Wiley (Darrell) Lynne Householder (Joe), an Uncle Fred Long (Lisa) and an Aunt Pam Walker. She is proceeded in death by her father Jack Walker and husband Carlos Valencia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at “The Wright House” in Mesa AZ at 636 W University Drive on Saturday June 8th at 12pm. We invite all who knew and loved Misty to wear purple (her favorite color) and join us in honoring this dynamic, vibrant, caring, wickedly funny, beautiful spirit who was Daughter, Mom, Sister, Wife, Daughter-in-Law, Friend, and more to so many people.

As a kid, I was Misty's shadow. If it wasn't for her I would never have learned to appreciate Prince (specifically Purple Rain), Madonna, Michael Jackson and any other 80s pop star. I absolutely loved weekend sleep-overs at the Walker's! Being four year younger, she was one of those people that I thought of often, but lost touch with. This hurts my heart so much. I pray for strength for Misty's family to find peace in this time of unthinkable grief.

I am so honored to call her my best friend in life. Now I can call her my angel. Until I see you again I will do my very best to honor your legacy everyday. I love you more and miss you .
