Paul S. Evans (66) of Port Orchard, Washington passed away on May 17, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Paul was born on Sept. 17, 1957 in Spokane, WA to William and Ilene Evans, both of whom he lost before the age of 10. Paul joined the Navy and learned ship welding and the value of hard work. He proudly served his country for 18 years, and was stationed in the Philippines, California, Italy, Spain, Japan, Scotland and Port Orchard, WA.
Paul met his wife, Joyce Braneky Evans while stationed in Scotland and they married on May 10, 1989. Their son, John William Evans was born in Scotland, and their daughter, Talleah Ilene Evans was born five years later after they moved to Port Orchard. After retiring from the Navy, Paul went on to work for various contractors as a Quality Assurance Specialist, finishing his career with General Dynamics. Paul took pride in his work, studying and achieving special certifications and working on several of the Navy’s flagship vessels. Paul also enjoyed being part of his community. Building on his own experience as an orphan, he wanted to help children and he volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
Paul loved art, music, and travel. His first love was his family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Joyce and children, John and Talleah; his sister, Gayle Williams (Jim) and brother-in-law Justin Braneky. Other surviving family members and friends include cousin, Niel Evans; nieces Alyssa Braneky, Linda Ingram, Debra Stephens, Lisa Slenes, Barbra Bassuer, and Kimberley Polfer and their spouses, children and grandchildren; childhood best friend, Kevin Adams and family friend Kathy Tobin.
A celebration of Paul’s life is being planned for later in the summer.
