Obituary For Suzanne Kathleen Stevens

Suzanne Kathleen Stevens (Alvarado), 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Tacoma, Washington, on March 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer and dementia. Born on February 14, 1944, in Tacoma, Suzanne spent her life deeply rooted in the city she loved.

Suzanne was the daughter of Beverly (Scaranuzzo) and Michael Alvarado. She attended school in Tacoma alongside her brothers, Michael and Anthony “Tony” and later married Everett Rogers. Together, they had two children, James Jay and Laura Ann Rogers (Parker).

After separating from Everett, Suzanne demonstrated remarkable resilience as a single mother, working tirelessly to provide for her family. Suzanne held various jobs throughout her life, including waitressing and bartending. She was best known for her time at Chuck’s Alibi in the 1980s, where she worked alongside her daughter Laura as a bartender and cocktail waitress duo. Later in life, Suzanne transitioned to roles in production warehouses and eventually found fulfillment as a product demonstrator.

In her later years, Suzanne found immense joy in her flower garden. Her yard became her sanctuary—a place where she could nurture beauty and find peace. A talented cook, she delighted in sharing meals with those around her. Suzanne was known for her candid honesty and tough love, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her. In her most recent years, she embraced a playful charm that brought smiles to many.

Suzanne was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Michael and Tony; her son James Jay Rogers; and Everett Joseph Rogers, the father of her children. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Laura Ann Parker (Rogers); four beloved grandchildren: Angelique "Angel," George "Mikey," Keithen, and Jessica; and nine cherished great-grandchildren: Kameela, Kaleena, Taryn, Carter, Tripp, Raegen, Gwendalyn, Mason, and Landon.

Suzanne’s family will forever treasure the memories of her strength, guidance, and love. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

My Aunty, what can I say? She was funny, stern, opinionated, strong willed, and loved family. I always enjoyed visiting with her and my Cousins, never a dull moment. Always whispering what she was thinking, usually about somebody in the room...😂 I loved that she always had a big smile and hug for me and my family any time we were together. I know she was happy when we were all together. I hadn't spent much time with her in the last 20 years because we moved to CA. but when she saw us her face always lit up. I will cherish all our times we did get to visit with her, and she will be missed. I will certainly miss her whispering in my ear at gatherings...😢 Love and miss you Aunty...Love Todd, Cathy, and the girls...❤️🙏🏼😘
